The time for anonymity is over. Whether you never drank or drank the bar dry your whole life, you can be proud of your decision to be sober. Together we can make it easier for others to say ‘not for me, thanks’ with joyful confidence and head held high.

  1. Hi! I am on the other side of the ocean but but very close in to you in this sober journey! Love the title of your blog and live that you’re out and proud! Woot woot! Congrats! Looking forward to reading about your journey! Hugs.

  2. Dear Soberoutandproud,
I am a Psychotherapist in Cinnaminson, NJ (U.S.) and have written two books to help children cope with and understand alcoholism. These books were written at the request of a client who wanted to explain his alcoholism to his young daughter and was having trouble finding the “right” book to do the job.
“Daddy’s Disease” and “Mommy’s Disease” have been on the cover of the “Courier Post”, featured on NPR’s “Voices in the Family” with Dr. Dan Gottleib, and on Take 12 Radio.
I would very much appreciate your considering reviewing my books for your blog and would be happy to send you copies of the books if you are interested. (electronically or hard copy)
Thank you so much for your time and for the good work you do.
    Carolyn Hannan Bell, M.S., L.P.C.

    • Thanks so much for thinking of me Carolyn. I don’t have any children or much knowledge of them or their needs. I’m also not entirely settled on the disease model myself (I believe I have a mental illness/behavioural syndrome rather than a disease per se) so I don’t think I am qualified to review your books. I really appreciate you asking though and wish you all the best with your work.
